About Perk by Kate

Perk by Kate sells affirmation apparel out of Singapore to shoppers around the world. Founded by Kate Low, the store has been on Shopify since October 2011, runs on Shopify Plus, and now handles around 2,500 orders and 67,000 sessions a month. Most of those shoppers land on the site from far away, on a brand they have never seen, and decide within seconds whether it looks real. Earning that trust, and keeping the path to checkout short once it is earned, is the job the storefront has to do on every visit.

The challenge: eight jobs, eight apps

Doing that job on Shopify usually means installing things. Reviews and review emails from one app, a currency converter, payment logos, a sticky buy button, an Instagram feed, a chat widget, a cart message and link handling. Eight jobs, and eight single-purpose apps to do them. Each one brings its own problems.

  • Eight bills for eight tools Every app is its own subscription, priced and renewed on its own. The store pays for each app’s full plan, including the features it never switches on.
  • Eight scripts slowing every page Each app loads its own code for every shopper. In our lab test, a product page with 13 separate apps took 16.1 seconds to fully load; the same 13 features in Vitals took 3.1.
  • Features that overlap Two apps end up doing the same job, such as two popups or two badge widgets, and the storefront looks like it was assembled rather than designed.
  • Eight support inboxes When something breaks, there are eight vendors to check, in eight time zones, none of whom can see the others’ code.
  • Eight dashboards to keep in sync Eight logins and eight settings pages, with no single place to see what is running on the storefront.

The solution: eight tools from one install

Perk by Kate runs all eight from a single install of Vitals, on the entry plan, with one script on the page. Here is what each one does on perkbykate.com.

  1. Product Reviews

Star ratings sit beside the price on every product page, and the reviews themselves sit further down, each marked as a verified buyer. Across the store the set runs to 351 reviews at a 4.96 average, and 340 of them are five star.

The asking is built in. When an order is delivered, Vitals sends the review request on its own. Over the last 90 days it sent 3,025 of them, 3,018 were delivered and 1,683 were opened, a 56% open rate from an email the brand never has to write or schedule, and no separate email tool to pay for.

  2. Shoppable Instagram Feed

For a visitor who came from an ad, the store brings the brand’s Instagram with it. The grid sits on the homepage and product pages, so they see real people wearing the piece they are looking at before they decide.

  3. Payment Logos

The last question before checkout is whether the store takes a card the shopper recognises. Since September 2026 the answer sits under the Add to Cart button and in the cart, with local payment icons included.

  4. Currency Converter

A price in Singapore dollars means little to someone browsing from Texas or Manchester. Vitals reads where the shopper is browsing from and switches the price to their currency, on desktop and mobile. 160 currencies are enabled.

  5. Sticky Add to Cart

On a product page the buy button follows the shopper down as they read reviews and scroll photos, so buying is never more than a tap away, however far they have scrolled.

  6. Cart Notice

In the cart, a short message from the brand covers whatever a shopper needs to know before they pay, set once and shown to everyone.

  7. All-in-One Chat

One chat control on the storefront reaches the channels the brand already answers on, so a question does not have to wait for an email.

  8. Auto External Links

Every outbound link opens in a new tab. The store is never the page that gets closed.

The result is not eight features bolted on, but one storefront where reviews, prices, payment cues and the buy button all come from the same place and behave the same way.

Why Perk by Kate chose Vitals

The store did not need eight apps. It needed one that could do eight jobs without the overhead that comes with eight vendors. Vitals gave it:

  • Eight tools from one install, on the $29.99 entry plan
  • One script on the page instead of eight
  • One dashboard to run the whole storefront
  • One support team for every tool
  • Review requests sent automatically, with no email tool to connect
  • 40+ more tools ready to switch on at no extra cost
“I do like Vitals, and I recommend it to quite a few of my friends.”
