Collect phone numbers in Spin the Wheel with matching consent text
Spin the Wheel can now ask shoppers for a phone number instead of, or as well as, an email address, and the marketing consent text now matches what you collect.
What's new
- Contact fields. Under Spin the Wheel → Content Settings → Contact fields, choose Email address (the default), Phone number, or Email address and phone number.
- Checked before the spin. With a phone number, the shopper picks their country and types the number, and it is checked before the wheel turns. With both fields, shoppers fill in at least one.
- Consent that follows the fields. The checkbox reads "Email me with news and offers" for email only, "Send me news and offers by phone" for phone only, and "Send me news and offers" for both. The "you have to accept" errors say "marketing messages" when a phone number is involved.
How it works
Existing wheels are unchanged: they keep asking for an email until you change the setting. Edit the consent text under Spin the Wheel → Customers from Europe → Text, and for Pop-ups under any pop-up → Consent (phone and email-and-phone pop-ups each have their own text). The new texts come translated in 19 languages and can be changed from Translate.
(If you already had your own consent text on a phone pop-up, it stays. Consent checkboxes still show only when you turned them on, and only to EU shoppers if you set it that way.)
Also fixed
- On the phone number field in Pop-ups, Spin the Wheel and Back In Stock, the country arrow no longer sits on the divider line, and the number-format hint is grey so it no longer looks like a typed number.
- On multi-language stores, a language you never translated now shows your own slices and coupon codes in Spin the Wheel, not the default ones.
