Countdown timers now count down to a real end date

Countdown timers across three apps now have to be tied to a real end date, so the urgency a shopper sees is the real deadline rather than a timer that loops forever or restarts for every visitor.

Until now, a timer could run on a fixed duration, to midnight, or on a loop.

What's new

In Upsell Builder, the timer counts down to the offer's scheduled end date and hides once the offer ends. The fixed duration, midnight, and manual date options are gone, and Add countdown timer is disabled on an offer that has no end date.

In the Countdown Timer app, Evergreen mode is retired. It is hidden for shops on Fixed and for new installs.

In Cart Notice, the Show countdown timer checkbox is hidden for shops that never used it and for fresh installs.

What this means for you

Your storefront is unaffected for now. Shops already using each of these features keep their current setup until you make a manual change yourself.

What you need to do

Nothing right away. If you are still on Evergreen in the Countdown Timer app, you keep it until you switch to Fixed and save, and that switch is one way, so make it when you are ready rather than to try it out. Shops already using the Cart Notice countdown keep it.
