EU Legal Guarantee: show the two-year guarantee notice EU shoppers must see
EU Legal Guarantee is a new Vitals app for stores selling to customers in the EU. It shows the official notice about the minimum two-year legal guarantee, which EU rules require from 27 September 2026.
What's new
Find it under Apps > Protect. The notice covers physical goods sold to consumers in all 27 member states, and it shows in the shopper's language, in any of the 24 official EU languages.
- Product page: the notice sits under Add to cart and Buy now, as a short link, a headline, a box or the full text
- Cart page and cart drawer: the notice shows once, above Checkout, when the cart has covered goods
- Order confirmation email: the Order email tab gives you a snippet to paste into your Shopify template, with each step laid out
- Guarantee page: optionally, a page of its own linked from your store footer
If a product has a free producer guarantee of more than two years that covers the whole product, you can also show the GARAN label on it, just above Add to cart and under that item in the cart.
How it works
By default the notice shows to customers in the EU, is hidden for B2B customers, and skips gift cards and digital products. Shopify does not let apps edit notification templates, so the order email snippet is pasted by hand, and pasted again if you change who sees the notice.
